TAGIMOUCIA ART GALLERY
Visit the Tagimoucia Art Gallery when you are in Suva.
Inmates are known to have vivid imaginations which are often expressed through artistic impressions in tattoos. Therein lies a potential livelihood if drawn out and honed. The Fiji Corrections Service recognizes this potential and decides to do something about it. In an effort to identify, develop and display the artistic skills inside prison walls, the Tagimoucia Art Gallery was set up to identify as among the initiatives of the Yellow Ribbon Project in its inaugural launch in 2008. Situated at the Central Eastern Division Bure outside the Suva Corrections Centre, the gallery has since been causing a stir in the local art world yielding an amazing array of potential from inmates. These talents are increasingly being recognized as demonstrated by the steady sales as well as commissioned work. |
