ZANANA LEAGUE CONGRATULATES FIJI CORRECTIONS SERVICE

The Zanana League has congratulated the Fiji Corrections Service for its various initiatives to bring about changed lives among offenders and to make them productive citizens when they are released back into society. The Zanana League is the women’s arm of the Fiji Muslim League. The national president, Nisha Buksh specifically acknowledged the existence of the Yellow Ribbon Project to give offenders a second chance as well as the effort to encourage community involvement in the work of transforming offenders. She made the comment in her closing remarks during a presentation of the Yellow Ribbon Project to the League in Suva recently. Members of the league from Suva and executives of branches in Nasinu as well as members of the Pratinidhi Shabha were also present. “We thank you so much for opening our eyes and congratulate you for the work that you are doing especially in the Yellow Ribbon Project,” Ms Buksh said. Ms Buksh will be leading a team of Muslim women in providing food for the female inmates in Korovou to give them some Christmas cheers. The Zanana League has also encouraged the Fiji Corrections Service to make similar YRP presentations to other branches in Nasinu and around the country. www.corrections.org.fj |
