YOU HAVE A PURPOSE IN LIFE, INMATES ENCOURAGED

Inmates at the Women's Corrections Centre during their graduation today.

Twelve inmates from the Women’s Corrections Centre today received certificates for successfully completing the Sycamore Tree programme.

Facilitated by the Prisons Fellowship, the programme focused on teaching inmates about the values of life and enhanced them spiritually.

Chief guest at the occasion this morning, Adi Davila Walker urged the inmates to remain focused and positive.

“God has a purpose for every men, women and child on this earth and that is true for each and every one of you sitting in this room today,” Mrs Walker said.

“The Spirit of the Lord dwells in you and we are all equal in his sight,” she said.

“Being in prison is God’s door for your next destiny,” Mrs Walker told the inmates.

“It has allowed God to mould and prepare you for the next stage in your life,” she added.

The programme is the second phase of the Fiji Corrections Service’ rehabilitation drive, that focuses on addressing the offending behaviour of inmates.
