Medium Facility.

People turned out in droves at the Yellow Ribbon tent at Suva’s Albert Park during the week-long 2011 Vodafone Hibiscus Festival.

Located at the corner near the Tennis Club along Ratu Cakobau Road, the tent housed food items and products on sale from the industries of the Fiji Corrections Service.

Food items included cakes, pies, pastries, tea and coffee, roti and curry, lovo food packs and many more. Many were drawn to the dining area as they enjoyed their meals and the music.

Because of their quality, items like wooden chests, walking sticks, coffee table, bags and caps were priced affordably and sold like hot cakes.

For farm and bakery alone, a total of $7000 were collected, while $7000 was also collected for tailoring and joinery.

The response from the public was very positive.

“I am one of the strong supporters of Yellow Ribbon and that is why I am here today to purchase some items on sale here that were made the inmates,” she said smiling.

Other items on sale included bula shirts and sulu jiabas.
