![]() Part of the march procession to mark the launch of the Yellow Ribbon programme in Savusavu last Friday. The recent launch of the Yellow Ribbon programme in Savusavu was a huge success, according to Corrections, Supervisor North Assistant Superintendent Sakiusa Veiwili. More than 100 people attended the march from the jetty and the eventual launch at the Savusavu foreshore. “It was indeed the first time for Savusavu and what better day to launch it since it coincided with the Fiji Day celebrations. “The response from the Savusavu public was great,” ASP Veiwili said. He said to ensure that there is a better tomorrow for Fiji, it is important that people learn to forgive and accept each other. Assistant Roko Tui Cakaudrove Anare Drauna launched the programme. “There was certainly a huge positive response to the programme from the people of Savusavu. People came in droves and the message of forgiveness and acceptance was relayed to them,” Drauna said. “I thank those who came in from the villages, the head of mataqalis and yavusas who came in with an open mind,” Drauna said. The Yellow Ribbon initiative, the flagship programme of the Fiji Corrections Service, is an initiative to give ex-offenders a second chance in life. www.corrections.org.fj |
