WARDENS WIN DREKETI, DAMA 7S
![]() Action from the Dreketi 7s. Wardens grabbed the Dreketi title to add to its trophy cabinet. It was a jubilant weekend for the Wardens team when they came out winners in the Dreketi and Dama Sevens in the North and Nausori respectively. The Wardens Rugby team in the North scooped the main prize money of $1500 after winning five, nil against Nasolo Young Boys I at the Dama Sevens yesterday. In the pool games, Wardens defeated Nagadoa 17-0 and Nasolo Young Boys II 14-5 on Thursday. With a high morale and good team spirit, the team managed to pull through during the last day of competition winning to Dama in the quarters 7 – 0 and 19-0 to Nasolo Young Boys II during the semis. Coach Tom Smith said the players did not sustain any injury and the team played well throughout the tournament. “We stuck to our game plan and our defence was really good but there are still certain areas we would like to improve on to better this weeks’ performance at the CMF Sevens,” Smith said. The team is optimistic that they will do even better. At the Dreketi Sevens, Wardens led 21-0 at half-time, finally outwitting the young Natabua players 45-5 in the Cup final. While Natabua played well, they could not find their way through the heavy Wardens defence. www.corrections.org.fj |
