The Fiji Corrections Service yesterday held an afternoon tea to acknowledge the donations by stakeholders in support of Miss Yellow Ribbon during the Vodafone 2011 Hibiscus Festival week.

Their donations enabled the FCS to contribute a total of $9410 to this year’s Hibiscus charity chest.

FCS Superintendent Headquarters ASP Kelepi Tukana thanked the guests saying they had all contributed in terms of promoting the Yellow Ribbon concept which basically is about giving offenders a second chance.

“Please accept this very small token of our deep appreciation,” ASP Tukana said.

ASP Tukana also commended the efforts by the Yellow Ribbon Queen Dipika Chand in preaching the gospel about Yellow Ribbon.

Commissioner Corrections Lt. Col Ifereimi Vasu said the thank you tea “is from our hearts”.

“We are also happy that our Queen is here with us today.”

As well, Lt. Col Vasu applauded efforts by Miss Yellow Ribbon in creating and promoting more awareness in accepting offenders back into society.
