SUKUNA BOWL, A TOOL FOR NATION-BUILDING
Members of the three disciplined forces at today's church service. The annual Ratu Sukuna Bowl challenge is an effective tool for nation-building, says Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua. Naivalurua made the comment today at the combined church service for the country’s three disciplined services at the National Gymnasium in Suva. The service, which marked the end of yet another year of competition of the much anticipated annual challenge, was attended by Home Affairs minister Joketani Cokanasiga, Prime Minister Commodore Voreqe Bainimarama, Commissioner of Corrections Lieutenant Colonel Ifereimi Vasu, senior officers and members of the three forces. Naivalurua said the annual Sukuna Bowl challenge was an important nation-building tool as it normally brought people together. “It brings the forces together. Let us all work together for the good of the nation. Let us stand united and serve as we are called to serve,” Naivalurua said. He reminded the officers to carry out their duties to the best of their ability and to excel in their work. The Army team successfully defended the coveted Sukuna Bowl after defeating Police 19-16 at the TFL National Stadium on Friday. www.corrections.org.fj |
