PROUD MOMENT FOR CORRECTIONS OFFICER
Corrections Commissioner Lt. Col Ifereimi Vasu congratulates PCO Onisimo Raboiliku after his appointment. It was an emotionally proud moment for Kadavu man Onisimo Raboiliku when he was appointed today to the rank of Principal Corrections officer (PCO). Today marked a milestone in his career after 11 years of service within the FCS. The father of two is currently Officer-in-Charge, Sentence Planning Team (OCSPT). “I wasn’t expecting anything like this at all. All I have is passion for my work. Being a Corrections officer is God’s calling because we are called to help change the life of people who have found themselves on the wrong side of the law,” the father of two said. Commissioner of Corrections Lieutenant Colonel Ifereimi Vasu congratulated Raboiliku and urged him to continue the good work. “It’s not easy to lead a team but when you have the heart and you are willing, anything is possible. The higher the rank, the more the responsibility,” Lt. Col Vasu said. Director Corporate Services Peniasi Kunatuba said the department was proud of such an achievement by PCO Raboiliku having being promoted from a junior officer to a very senior rank. “It’s not an easy field but it is central to one of the core functions of the department, to rehabilitate the lives of those under our care to be able to meet Government’s mandate to reduce recidicivism and escapes,” Mr Kunatuba said. PCO Raboiluku had been acting on his position for a year. "I would like to thank the Commissioner and management of the FCS for believing in me. I will continue to do my work to the best of my ability," he added. www.corrections.org.fj |
