Staff of the Fiji Corrections Service headquarters took part in a health march over the weekend.

The Move for Health - National march is an initiative of the Ministry of Health & Fiji Physiotherapy Association.

The idea behind the activity was to engage the community nation-wide on their roles & responsibilities as a response to the increasing number of non communicable diseases in the country.

Speaking at Albert Park where the walk ended, President Ratu Epeli Nailatikau said NCDs are hitting Fiji and the Pacific at an alarming rate.

Ratu Epeli said four ways to beat NCDs included eating healthy food, increasing physical activity, reduce or stop the consumption of alcohol and smoking.

“The FCS partnered with organisers to showcase their support for this worthy cause, and at the same time engage both these stakeholders for possible partnership in their awareness programs to the masses,” Yellow Ribbon coordinator Chief Corrections officer Isireli Dausiga.
