at Suva's Albert Park.
Miss Yellow Ribbon Dipika Deo put on a fine performance at Suva’s Albert Park tonight sending out the message loud and clear that inmates need a second chance.
Last night was Talent Night for the Queens where the contestants showcased their talents with dramas, songs, poetry, skits and the like.
She played the role of a mother to two boys and whose husband had been in prison for six years.
Before the scene played, there was a short news headline broadcast which announced a number of people receiving jail sentences by the courts.
Dipika portrayed the struggle her family went through especially the stigma branded on her two sons by society.
But she said she was willing to forgive her husband not because of the fact that he was her spouse but that inmates regardless of colour and creed, need to be accepted back into society.
She pleaded with the public saying inmates had merely made a wrong choice thus needed the support of the community to help them get back on track.
This she said, was the message behind the Fiji Corrections Service’ Yellow Ribbon initiative.
The 24-year-old lass who works for Goodman Fielder, is fun, loving, sociable and down-to-earth.
