MESSAGE OF FORGIVENESS TO HIT NADI

Inmates and officers during a public engagement earlier this year.

The message of forgiveness and giving a second chance to offenders will hit Nadi on December 9, 2011 when the Yellow Ribbon Project is launched at the jet set town.

The Fiji Corrections Service anticipates involving the business community and the people of Nadi, including the very important tourism sector, says Supervisor Western Division, Assistant Superintendent Oliver Fisher.

“As we have been doing in the past three years, the main aim is to educate the public and bring awareness of the importance of public participation and involvement in the effort to transform offenders to good citizens.

“Inmates are human beings and they need to be supported, loved and to be given a second chance to become better people.”

He said the presence of the public at the launch would give them the opportunity to learn more about Yellow Ribbon.

“We hope that through this Yellow Ribbon awareness it will change the perspective of members of the public to understand that inmates need encouragement, support and acceptance when they are released from any Corrections institution,” says ASC Fisher.
