IT'S NOT THE END OF THE ROAD, INMATES TOLD
Police Commissioner Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua meets inmates after they sang Christmas carols at the Police HQ today. Inmates of the Suva Corrections Centre have been told that prison is not the end of the road but they could use the opportunity to come out better people. The comments were made by the Commissioner of Police Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua when twelve inmates including staff of the Fiji Corrections Service sang Christmas carols at his residence early this morning. Brigadier General Naivalurua encouraged inmates to change their lives for the better and come out reformed people so that they can contribute positively to the society. He also reminded the Correction officers of the importance of the role they played in changing lives. Naivalurua encouraged officers to become role models and be captains of lives. The choir also visited the Attorney General’s residence where he and his family acknowledged their presence and enjoyed the Christmas carols. Later on in the day, the choir also visited the Fiji Police Force headquarters where they were treated to morning tea by the Commissioner of Police and his senior staff. Among other places they visited today were the Nabua Police Station, Vodafone headquarters in Tamavua, the Republic of Fiji Military Forces and the Corrections Headquarters. Inmates in the West are also involved in Christmas carol singing at business houses. This is all part of the FCS efforts to reach out to the community, showcasing the talents of inmates and sharing the joy of Christmas. www.corrections.org.fj |
