INMATES SING THEIR HEARTS OUT
Innmate Aminiasi Danford (middle) sings Christmas carols at Sukuna Park. Ten inmates from the Suva Corrections Centre were part of the crowd that thrilled the audience during Christmas at the Park at Suva’s Sukuna Park last night. They joined the Pasika Voices choir, individual artists and business houses in singing Christmas carols, led by reknown music composer Igelese Ete. Officer-in-Charge Suva, Assistant Superintendent Viliame Bulewa said he was excited about the fact that inmates were also sharing the joy of the Christmas season. “This is all part of our efforts in creating awareness within the community to give offenders a second chance,” ASC Bulewa said. “They’ve been practicing with Mr Ete in the past few weeks and today saw the climax of it all,” he added. People including young children flocked to Sukuna Park in numbers to watch and enjoy the annual event. Santa Claus was also at the Park handing out gifts to children. The event was organised by the Fiji Broadcasting Corporation and the Suva City Council. www.corrections.org.fj |
