INMATES ENCOURAGED 'TO DO BETTER'
Inmate Aminiasi Danford receives his certificate from Director, National Substance Abuse Advisory Council (NSAAC) Misaele Driubalavu during the graduation. Twenty-four inmates from the Suva Corrections Centre graduated today following a successful six-week Substance Abuse workshop. The inmates were awarded certificates by the Director, National Substance Abuse Advisory Council (NSAAC) Misaele Driubalavu. Driubalavu encouraged the inmates to change their mindsets and start thinking positively. “Think about what you have learnt during the workshop. “Think about what you can do in the long term and how you can impact the lives of others,” Driubalavu told them. “All of you sitting here today can contribute meaningfully back into society. The abuse of substances such as alcohol, drugs and cigarettes can cause a lot of problems for you. It affects you psychologically and mentally. It does not bring you any good,” he said. He commended the efforts of the Corrections Service in rehabilitating inmates. The workshop was conducted by the Prisons Fellowship. www.corrections.org.fj |
