DOUBLE CELEBRATION FOR WARDENS RUGBY


IT WAS a double celebration for Wardens Rugby this week who saw two teams win tournaments at Lawaqa Park and Subrail Park in Labasa.

In Labasa, the Yellow Ribbon Wardens won the Macuata 7s tournament on Saturday.

This is the first win for the team since it was formed earlier this year.

They beat Fiji Bitter Nasekula 26-10 at Subrail in Labasa in the final.

Coach Tom Smith said they would never forget the win since it was their first.

With over sixteen teams took part in the tournament, the Yellow Ribbon Wardens glided through an easy path to the Cup Finals.

The team had been training for over two weeks and I congratulate the players for following instructions said Coach Tom Smith.

Meanwhile back in Suva, the Timoci Wainiqolo coach sided team and management walked in with head held high at the National Headquarters to officially handover the Coral Coast Trophy to the Commissioner of Corrections Lt Colonel Ifereimi Vasu.

Applauded for their hard work and dedication. The Fiji Corrections Staff in Suva were proud of their achievement and wish them well in all endeavours of sports and future tounaments.

We only wished that the Labasa Yellow Ribbon Wardens Team were be here to celebrate the double victory said Captian Lepani Botia.
