CORRECTIONS FAMILIES MARK 2011 END WITH CHURCH SERVICE
Children of officers at the Suva Corrections Centre can't wait to open up their Christmas presents. Corrections officers based at the Suva Corrections Centre today enjoyed a church service with their families to mark the end of the year 2011. Methodist Church President Reverend Ame Tugaue was present at the service which was attended by the officers and their families led by Officer in Charge Assistant Superintendent Viliame Bulewa and Supervisor Central Eastern division, Superintendent Sairusi Gauna. While addressing his staff before the sermon, SP Gauna thanked them for their commitment to their works during the year. “We are about to see the end of the year and it is important that we all know where we are headed. We must have individual goals in place for the New Year. “As this year draws to an end, we should have already identified our weaknesses, our shortfalls and ensure that we see some improvements come next year,” SP Gauna said. He emphasized the importance of the family unit and how all staff must give their families priority. “We have seen a lot of changes come about within the department. Accept it because change is for the better, if you don’t grasp it you will be left behind,” SP Gauna said. He said as Correction officers we must ask ourselves whether we really are Captains of Lives and that in itself is a great challenge. “Be captains of lives so that you can influence someone’s life behind those walls,” he said. After the church service, the families enjoyed a lovo lunch while the children were handed Christmas gifts. www.corrections,org.fj |
