CORRECTIONS CHIEF OPENS SUKUNA BOWL GAMES
Corrections Commissioner Lt. Col Ifereimi Vasu delivering his keynote address during the launch of the 2011 Sukuna Bowl Games. Commissioner of Corrections Lt. Col Ifereimi Vasu today officially opened the 2011 Ratu Sukuna Bowl Games at the TFL National Stadium in Suva. Speaking to members of the disciplined forces, Lt. Col Vasu said the inaugural opening of the Games and the weekly competitions that followed have established that sports can be a unifying factor, bringing about greater cohesiveness in our purpose. “From the traditional two force competition between the RFMF and the FPF, the inclusion of both the Navy and the Corrections Service has brought about a greater awareness of the wide ranging scope of the disciplined forces and the major role that we play in establishing a stable and secure future for our nation,” he said. Lt. Col Vasu said the game has brought about deeper trust and a closer sense of friendship among the forces. “A greater sense of ownership of our roles and responsibilities has become more apparent with giant leaps made in establishing greater inoperability in our operations. “To that end I salute the proponents and designers of the Games for their far-sightedness,” Lt. Col Vasu said. www.corrections.org.fj |
