CORRECTION SERVICES COMMENDED FOR REHABILITATION EFFORTS
Director for Women Salote Radrodro while closing the 2-day workshop on Gender Mainstreaming. The Fiji Corrections Service has been applauded for its efforts in rehabilitating inmates. While closing the 2-day Gender Mainstream training for senior officers, Director for Women Salote Radrodro said her ministry was ready to work in partnership with the FCS in terms of providing training for inmates. “Your participation reflects to us your commitment to Gender Equality and Empowerment for Women. I believe you have been enlightened, sensitized and made aware of Government’s roadmap on the empowerment of women. “Women are the anchor of the family so when we are looked after well, we can expect a good family,” she said. Mrs Radrodro commended the initiative where women can remain with their new-born in correction centres. “I salute the Fiji Corrections Service for bringing this about. The bonding process between a mother and child is very important, it must be continuous and it must be strengthened,” she said. She said the ministry and the FCS could strengthen their partnership in terms of rehabilitating inmates. www.corrections.org.fj |
