A young boy’s dream to have bibles given to Correction centres throughout developing countries of the South Pacific became reality yesterday when more than 600 bibles were donated to the Suva and Women’s Corrections Centre.

The late Leif Frauenfelder of Brisbane, Australia visited some of Fiji’s prisons some years back with a friend and saw the need for bibles among inmates.

However upon his return to Australia, the teenager was tragically killed in a car crash on September 21, 2008.

On hand to deliver the bibles yesterday was family friend Tokasa Thompson who said the bibles would help inmates develop themselves spiritually.

Officer-in-charge Suva, Viliame Bulewa said the donation was a boost to the lives of people under the care of the Fiji Corrections Service.

“You came in today because you care for these people, people who have gone off track. You are not doing this to them, you are not doing this to us, but you are doing it to the Lord.

“We are so thankful for this donation,” Bulewa said.

He emphasized the role of the FCS in ensuring a safe and secure custody for inmates.
