BA PROVINCE URGED TO VISIT INMATES

Correction Centres.

The province of Ba has been urged to visit their sons and daughters who have gone off track.

Fiji Corrections Service Yellow Ribbon Coordinator, Chief Corrections Officer Isireli Dausiga made this plea during the Adi Salusalu Festival at Churchill Park, Lautoka yesterday.

CCO Dausiga said most of the inmates serving their terms did not get any visit from their families.

“I must say that it’s time now for the province of Ba to please at least pay a visit to any corrections institution to visit the sons and daughters of your province, “said CCO Dausiga.

He said inmates need a second chance and it would be successful if the family, vanua and the church show their support.

“We cannot work alone, we need your support and assistance to help in terms of rehabilitating them so that they become good citizens of this country.”

COC Dausiga said the challenge was for everyone.

“The Corrections Service and the community need to work hand in hand in order to sustain the YRP concept,” he said.

The current provincial breakdown of inmates shows that 83 inmates hail from the province of Ba.
