BA COUNCIL COMMEND INMATES' EFFORTS
![]() Inmates of the Ba Corrections Centre take part in civic pride. Inmates are very helpful and hardworking, says Ba Town Council landscaping supervisor Hirendra Kumaran. Mr Kumaran was referring to seven inmates who are currently working at the new Council’s Botanical Garden. “The new Botanical Garden will soon be open but we are so thankful to the Corrections Department for their support,” he said. He said communities should change their mindset and be open minded about inmates. Mr Kumaran said the inmates are so dedicated when tasks are given to them. “The Council have faith in them because we trust them that they will complete this task.” He said engaging inmates will give them a sense of belonging and also change the mindset of the public to a positive one. “They need a second chance and deserve love and care from us,” Mr Kumaran said. Ba Corrections Center Officer-in-Charge, Chief Corrections Officer Inoke Raicama said as part of community re-integration, the inmates will work two days a week until December. “We will work closely together with the Council on this,” he said. www.corrections.org.fj |
