Women inmates learn more
01 February, 2012 Inmates at the Women's Correction Centre show off their certificates following their graduation yesterday. Twenty-two inmates graduated yesterday from three different courses at the Women’s Corrections Centre. The courses, which constitutes phase two of the Fiji Corrections Service’ rehabilitation framework, were namely Purpose of Life, Anger Management and Substance Abuse. This is normally the phase where inmates undertake specifically tailored programmes to address their offending behavior. In awarding their certificates, chief guest Pastor Maika Rainima told the participants that each of them were born with a purpose. “Never look down at yourself, no one is an accident, you were all born with a purpose. We all go through different situations in life. “We were created by God with a purpose and he is a God of second chances,” Pastor Rainima said. Patricia Chand, 21 who came in for the offence of theft went through the Purpose of Life course. “After going through this course, I have a different perspective of life. This course has really changed my life. “My resolution for this year is to save as many souls as I can especially my family. And this is what I decided after completing this course,” said Chand, who is serving a one-year sentence. www.corrections.org.fj
