Lautoka inmates clean up the St Thomas High School compound.

As part of the Fiji Corrections Service’ community integration programme, more than ten inmates in Lautoka helped clean up the St Thomas High School compound today.

Officer in charge Acting Chief Corrections Officer Pita Cama said the clean up was also part of the centres’ efforts in maintaining civic pride.

St Thomas High School vice Principal Sala Tabaka said the school executives commended the initiative put in by inmates.

Ms Tabaka said this is also one way of showing support to them and they need to be given a second chance.

“We are fortunate to receive a helping hand from the inmates and their contribution means a lot to us,” she said.

A/CCO Cama said they also decided to clear out debris left behind by the recent flood in neighbouring areas.
