Inmates get new musical equipment
05 March, 2012 Inmates at the Medium Correction Centre enjoy their new musical equipment donated by the Indian High Commission. Inmates from the Medium Correction Centre in Naboro today received musical instruments from the Indian High Commission’s Cultural Centre. In handing over the equipment, Director of the Commission’s Indian Cultural Centre Dr Kamal Kishor Mishra said he hoped it would be well utilized by the inmates. “I hope you will use it well, learn more from it and entertain with it because these musical instruments can motivate us. He said Fiji is a wonderful country made up of diverse cultures and culture is what identifies a person. The musical equipment included a tabla, sarod, dilruba and religious books, among others. Inmate Mahendra Singh said they were grateful that the Centre had approved their request, stemming from a lack of equipment during their recreation. Mr Singh said the donation would help mould their character and assured Dr Mishra that the equipment would be used well. www.corrections.org.fj
