Be good mentors, officers told
07 February, 2012

Lt. Col Ifereimi Vasu addressing officers at the Natabua Corrections Centre.

Officers at the Natabua Corrections Center have been urged by the Commissioner of Corrections Lt Col Ifereimi Vasu to be good mentors to those under their custody.

Addressing officers last week, Col Vasu said officers can only be good mentors if they have clean hearts to serve inmates.

“We have to spend more time with inmates and deal with their problems,” he said.

“We can reduce escape and recidivism if we start conducting mentoring programmes to inmates.

“We have to take ownership while on duty," he said.

He added that officers should have a clear conscious when dealing with inmates,” Lt. Col Vasu told them.
