A 20 member team from the Fiji Prisons and Corrections Services (FPCS) today advanced into a Conflict Analysis and Mediations seminar at the Pacific Theological College ‘Jovili Meo’ Training Centre in Nasese.
The one week seminar which is organised by the Pacific Centre for Peace Building is aimed at equipping participants from security forces under the Ministry of Defence in addressing conflicts.
Seminar facilitator Mr Paula Bale said the course was to enhance officer’s capabilities in conflict solving.
“The objectives for the seminar are for participants to know the tools they should use when faced with conflicts and also to know the manner in which they should approach conflicts” said Bale.
Meanwhile, Labasa Prison Welfare Officer Mrs Julia Tamani said that the seminar will benefit officers especially when it comes to the rehabilitation of inmates.
“The knowledge acquired from this seminar will really assist us in understanding inmates past and also their future.”
