Northern Yellow Ribbon Project 2011 launched
26 March, 2011 Mr Pramod Chand and Prison’s Chief Lt Col Ifereimi Vasu, cuts the Yellow Ribbon Cake to mark the launching of the YRP “We as a community will have to go beyond the tradition of the “Yellow Ribbon Project” and venture into partnership with the Fiji Corrections Service to help rehabilitate ex-offenders. Speaking today at the launch of the 2011 Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP) in Labasa, Chief Guest Mr Pramod Chand challenged the people of the Friendly North on the role that the community has to play in the YRP. “Your active involvement and support is very much needed to boost public confidence, acceptance and forgiveness of our beloved ex-offenders” Being a strong believer in giving people a second chance himself, Mr Chand also said that the community should learn to treat ex-offenders with dignity and respect. Meanwhile, the commissioner of Fiji Corrections Service (FCS), Lieutenant Colonel Ifereimi Vasu also reminded the 400 plus people who witnessed the YRP launch that the corrections department needs the support of the community. “We cannot do it alone” “We need your active support and participation in this project” “We need you on board, now not tomorrow” “Your support is vital and necessary in this worthy cause” Lt Col Vasu also thanked all the people who have been continuously supporting the YRP. www.corrections.org.fj
