01 September, 2010 ![]() Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua receiving the donation of T- shirts from Mr. Carl Perrin. The Lions Club in Suva donated $200 worth of quality t-shirts to the Prisons and Correctional Services to assist them in their screen printing programme under the Yellow Ribbon Project. Club secretary, Carl Perrin presented 31 t-shirts yesterday to Prisons and Correctional Services Commissioner Brigadier-General Ioane Naivalurua. Mr Perrin said the donation was part of their community service project and hoped that it would greatly help the inmates in developing and improving their new skills in screen printing. “We are an international service organisation and we are pleased to assist with this donation and we look forward to assisting the prisons department in the future,” he said. Prisons public relations officer Fred Elbourne said the service was very grateful and thankful for the donation saying that it would greatly help them with their self-funded art gallery department. “These t-shirts will enable the inmates to develop and showcase their talents in screen printing which is a new programme in the yellow ribbon project,” he said. “We hope that other organisations and clubs out there will continue to assist us with our programme through donations like this,” he added.
