Commissioner Northern visits FPCS Commercialisation projects
12 February, 2010 (From left) Deputy Commissioner Auta Moceisuva, Commissioner Northern Lieutenant Colonel Seruiratu the Commissioner of Fiji Prisons & Corrections Service Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua and District Officer Bua The Commissioner Northern Lieutenant Colonel Seruiratu yesterday (Thursday, February 05) paid a courtesy call to the Commissioner of Fiji Prisons & Corrections Service (FPCS) Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua. FPCS Media Liaison Officer Fred Elbourne said that the visit was also a follow up after discussions that the Commissioner of Prisons and Commissioner Northern had in the Northern Division last week, and also a chance to give an update on the recent visit by the Northern Development Programme Manager Mr Waisale Tuidama who spoke to the inmates from the Suva and Naboro Institutions, on Tuesday February 9. “This is part of FPCS strategy to engage our stakeholders at all levels. The Commissioner Northern visited the FPCS’s industries and managed to see firsthand the development being carried out in the FPCS Commercialisation Farm. After seeing for himself the 191 800 dalo plants and the 28 000 cassava plots, the Commissioner Northern said that if it could be done in prison, the same could be replicated in all the Provinces in Fiji. The Commissioner Northern will be returning to Labasa on Saturday. www.corrections.org.fj
