The Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP) awareness team has accepted an invitation from the organisers of the Digicel Coral Coast Carnival to promote the virtues of the Fiji Prisons and Corrections Service’s flagship programme.

The Chairperson of the Digicel Coral Coast Carnival Ratu Jolame Lewanavanua in a letter to the Commissioner Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua informed him that a special area has been designated for the Yellow Ribbon Project team.

“The Executive Committee has decided to set up a special area for special programmes and civil society groups.

“Our Carnival Committee invites you to be a part of the week long programme to promote the Yellow Ribbon Project,” Ratu Lewanavanua stated.
YRP Coordinator Isireli Dausiga said that the invitation was timely as it coincided with the FPCS October Yellow Ribbon Month and the awareness team will be conducting awareness programmes throughout the duration of the carnival.

“We are thankful for the invitation as it coincides with our Yellow Ribbon Month programme; it presents us with a good opportunity to create awareness of giving a second chance to offenders.

“There are other awareness activities scheduled at secondary schools within the Tailevu, Nausori and Suva Corridor as well.”
