The Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP) Awareness Campaign reached another milestone yesterday Thursday October 29 as the Qaranivalu Ratu Inoke Takiveikata and the 16 chiefs of Naitasiri Province pledged their support to the YRP at their annual provincial meeting at Vunidawa

Yellow Ribbon Coordinator PPO Isireli Dausiga in his presentation told the council members that FPCS and the YRP needs the support of the Vanua.

“The biggest obstacle that faces the FPCS is who do we hand over the ex-offenders to when they are released from prison.

“Who do we hand them over to?"

“The inmates after serving their time need the support of the vanua, the lotu and the vuvale.”

The YRP Coordinator said that over the past 12 months the virtues of YRP has been taken to 21 schools.

“We have visited 21 schools and have reached 18,000 students informing them about YRP and at the same time encouraged them that prison is no place for young people and the importance of obedience towards parents and teachers”, Dausiga said.

The Qaranivalu thanked FPCS for its efforts and for the message of the YRP.

Ratu Takiveikata than advised the Provincial Councilors that a date be set for the province to visit their sons and daughters who are in prison.
