Beauty queen pays surprise visit

Miss Suva City Council Sera Fatafaihi getting briefed by YRP Coordinator PPO Isirsli Dausiga.

Staff and officers at the Fiji Prisons and Correctional Services (FPCS) Headquarters in Suva, yesterday Wednesday August 19, were pleasantly surprised when Miss Suva City Council Sera Fatafaihi walked into their office.

Ms Fatafaihi walked in to ask for information on the FPCS Yellow Ribbon Project and the FPCS commercialisation projects.

When Ms Fatafaihi was asked by FPCS Media Liaison Officer Principal Prison Officer (PPO) Fred Elbourne what she required the information for, she surprised him and other officers by saying she was Miss Suva City Council.

The information she said was for a presentation she will be presenting on Friday August 21 as part of the Hibiscus Festival.

Ms Fatafaihi was briefed on the commercialisation by PPO Elbourne and learnt all about the Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP) from YRP Coordinator PPO Dausiga.

PPO Elbourne said while it was a surprise to be visited by the Miss Suva City Council, her visit is evidence that the media strategy to disseminate the FPCS strategies, programmes, and rehabilitation projects and YRP to the public is working.

“It is the FPCS Commissioner Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua’s intent that we put a human face to the prison service and for the public to understand that FPCS is not all about walls, bars and steel doors.”
