I DO- BEHIND CLOSED DOORS
Serving inmate Barbados Mills made the most unusual promise in his life as he took his bride Eva Mere Naqasima to the altar to wed. The wedding took place at the Naboro Minimum Corrections Centre Chapel this morning. Speaking to Corrections Media Cell the newlyweds claimed the wedding to be an example to inmates. ‘It’s a lesson for some of my fellow inmates.
I just need them to realise that we can work together here with the officers. It’s time to learn from them and begin to build bridges. There’s no time to dwell on the past. I love my wife very much and so I made the decision to have this wedding two weeks ago. We have been both praying for it. I must thank the authorities for allowing it to take place. Meanwhile Mrs. Mills said it was a hard issue to consider but was thankful for her faith which enabled her to say yes. “I met my husband in 2003 when I was just a simple quarantine officer. We started a relationship that is built on trust regardless of what sentence he is serving ....I am totally blessed. Its Gods strength alone that we’ve come this far.’ The couple tied the knot before a limited number guests and a choir orchestrated by inmates of the Minimum Corrections centre. Mrs Mills is expected to travel out of the country on Sunday to attend a two year degree program in Australia before rejoining her husband whose sentence ends in 2014. The newlyweds have two daughters Grace and Hannah. |
