YRP RIBBONS FLIES AT HIBISCUS 2010
![]() Members of the public flocking to the YRP tent at the Hibiscus 2010 Festival. Fiji Prisons and Corrections Service’s Yellow Ribbon Programme is flying high at this year’s Hibiscus Festival. For the second year running the Fiji Prisons and Corrections Service (FPCS) are partaking in Fiji’s premier festival as part of its efforts to create visibility and engage society. FPCS Media Liaison Officer PPO Fred Elbourne said that the aim of the FPCS participation at this year’s festival is the same as last year and that is to create awareness of its Yellow Ribbon Project (YRP). “We want to create an atmosphere that will leave the impression to the public that the Yellow Ribbon Project is a living thing. “We want to engage the public by sending a message to the community that the YRP is their project as well. “Our activities down at our tent will be loud, colorful, yet very tasteful.” The project Yellow Ribbon, named after the famous song of the 70's, "Tie a Yellow Ribbon on the Old Oak tree", seeks the forgiveness of ex-offenders from the community and implores them to offer them a second chance in life. www.corrections.org.fj |
