YELLOW RIBBON PROGRAMME EXTENDED TO THE DECEASED
Officer in Charge Nasinu Reformative Center, A/ ASP Peni Rokodiva helping out assisting first-aid medical, during the cleaning up campaign The FPCS have extended its YRP month of October to all who have been buried in Nasinu Cemetery wh en staffs, families and part of the Nasinu and Wainibuku community gathered in numbers to a day of cemetery cleaning which involves brush cutting, collecting rubbish and painting of tombs with white wash. A total of 104 people which included primary and secondary schools students and a Youth from the St Peter’s Catholic Church at Makoi have been part of the cemetery clean up campaign. Officer in Charge Nasinu Prison, A/ASP Peni Rokodiva stated that the program we organized to coincide with the YRP Month Plan that was submitted from the FPCS NHQ. He added that BSP Bank had provided T/shirts to those who have been part of the cemetery cleaning program. Officers and wives from Nasinu Prison organize refreshment and lunch and followed with few organized games to the children soon after lunch. A representative from the FPCS NHQ, A/SP Akuila Namakadre who visited the site as part of the YRP month program thanked all staffs, families and members of the community for their effort, commitment and sacrifice towards the YRP month. He added that cleaning of cemeteries such as Nasinu have been the assigned to inmates only in the past and the initiative taken by staff and families of Nasinu Prison is a way forward for the FPCS towards the promotion of the Yellow Ribbon Program in our engagement and visibility to the public and members of the community. www.corrections.org.fj |
