POLICE AND CORRECTIONS OFFICERS BOND ON TREK

Police and Corrections Officers during their early morining trek in Naboro.

Senior officers from the Fiji Prisons and Corrections Service and the Fiji Police Force had an
early morning trek up the hills of Naboro Corrections Complex yesterday.

They were accompanied by their boss Brigadier-General Ioane Naivalurua.

This is in line with his efforts to improve camaraderie and interoperability within the
senior officers of the two institutions.

Police spokesman Fred Elbourne said the early morning trek was just another novel
way by Brigadier-General Naivalurua to create a better working relationship between the two forces.

“The walk this morning was just another way for the Commissioner to create a unity among
the officers so that they can work together for a common goal,” Mr Elbourne said.

“That is a safe and secure Fiji for all.”
Mr Elbourne said the trek which covered 4.5 kilometres also gave the police officers
a chance to see first hand what the Prisons Department was doing in terms of commercialisation and rehabilitation.

The trek, Mr Elbourne said, started at 5.30am with a joint operations briefing held
midway through the course.

“We started off at 0530hrs under the cover of darkness and when it was first light
, both institutions presented their 24 hour operations brief to the Commissioner,” he said.

Mr Elbourne said they will have more of these joint operations in future.
