Five officers who were randomly selected by the Fiji Prisons and Corrections Service Commissioner Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua to speak on his behalf at the Commissioner’s Parade in Naboro Corrections Complex on Friday (July 30) rose to occasion.

Brigadier General Naivalurua said that he randomly selected the officers as part of his audit.

“Officers, I selected these five officers randomly as part of an audit exercise to ascertain whether the officers were equipped on knowledge of the FPCS.

The five officers were OC Minimum Acting Assistant Superintendent Lemeki Rokovesa, PPO Eroni Segasegakece, POB Tomasi Daunitutu, POB Timoci Serevi  and  W/POC Temo Ravutugaga.

The officers spoke on Yellow Ribbon, Importance of the family, Commercialisation, Importance of Training and Being a Correctional Professional officer.

A/ASP Rokovesa in his talk to the 158 officers on parade told them of the three A’s
1.    Awareness
2.    Acceptance
3.    Action

PPO Eroni spoke on the importance of having God at the centre of each family unit.

POB Daunitutu told those on parade of that each and every office had to embrace the FPCS Commercialisation ideals.

POB Serevi in his deliverance to the parade spoke on the recent changes in how training progarmmes are now conducted in an orderly and manner compared to the previous years.

In his summing up, Brigadier General Naivalurua told the officers of the need for them to be proud of their uniforms, however he also told them what was more important was what was inside them.

“You should be proud of your uniforms, I am very proud of my uniform and to see you on parade feels me with pride.

“However, the uniform is just a piece cloth; it is what is inside you that counts.

Let me tell you, money and technology cannot change a person, only a person can change a person through the power of God.”
