Inmates from Lautoka Prisons scooped the best Team spirit award at the Inaugural AFL sports award night held at the NASA compound, Nadi.

Asp Viliame Bulewa says’ the win meant the extension of the recognition of the Yellow Ribbon Program adopted by the Fiji Prisons and Correction Servieces.

‘ Since the inception on YRP we have seen the reality of the initiative. We’re on the right track. However we need to move on increase the tempo and rise to another level’.

Bulewa says the win sort of confirms the role of society.

“ Everybody needs to understand that they are responsible for our offenders. We all need to play our part. Yellow Ribbon is here to stay. It’s a wake up call for those who are not receptive to the Yeloow Ribbon program’

He added the community must take it’s cue from what AFL has done for Yellow Ribbon’

‘ We extend grateful gratitude to AFL for accommodating and perhaps laying a foundation of a partnership with Fiji Prisons and Corrections Services in the rehabilitation of inmates. Sports is just one part of it- rehabilitation- inmates have different talents therefore we seek the assistance of the community to help us discover the skills that lay in inmates. So we thank AFL for taking such a bold and grave step.

The Fiji Prisons and Corrections services also scooped the best decorated and informative tent.

Meanwhile the Fiji Police Force Boarder unit scooped the prize of Best Dress March on Team.
