The women of the Fiji charter of the Soroptimist International made a special visit to the Nasinu Prison last Saturday, July 18 as part of their joint partnership in the Fiji Prisons and Correctional Service’s Yellow Ribbon Project.

Spokesperson for the group and renowned physiotherapist Ms Cathy Wong said the visit was an eye opener for the women.

“For many of the women in the society this was the first time that they visited a prison,” Ms Wong said.

While visiting the prisons, the society donated farming implements for the inmates to use.

Ms Wong said that after discussion with Officer-in-Change Nasinu Prisons Hari Nath, they decided to donate farming implements and this was part of the group’s community projects to help the less fortunate in society.
