The promotion of three officers of the Fiji Prisons and Correctional Service is a moving ceremony yesterday as the achievements marked the continuation of new changes in the age old systems and culture within the service.

Where in the past, promotions were based on years of seniority as a major factor, these recent promotions prove that merit and hard work are the new rules of the game.

In a motivated and eye opening impromptu speech the Commissioner of Prisons Brigadier Ioane Naivalurua impressed upon the staff the need to work hard and smarter. The promotions, he noted was the testimony of the recognition of the officer’s attitude, skill and hard working. 

Principle Prison Officer Kameli Vakalevulevua, the OHS officer was promoted to Chief Prison Officer. The Officer in charge for the Constructions, Mr Semesa Vakacabeqoli was promoted to Chief Prison Officer while Sergeant Major Sakiusa Veiwili, the Chief Officer at the Medium Security Prison was promoted to Principal Prison Officer.
