Team building, depending on one another and having confidence in your partners is what the Fiji Prisons and Correctional Services is all about and there are plans to develop these attributes to the next level. Commandant of the Fiji Prisons and Correctional Academy Jona Nawaqavou was in Nadi on Tuesday (July 21) for a third round of talks with Sabeto Christian Camp Manager Mr Rob Meats on the possibility of replicating their team building obstacle course at the Naboro Prison facilities. The team building and confidence course consist of various drills that includes a flying fox apparatus. The flying fox is a pioneering apparatus for moving persons along an elevated fixed rope, hawser or cable while suspended in the air on a pulley. The third round of talks focused on policy activities involving the obstacle course, the inherent risks and the adequate skills required to conduct activities safety. While the proposed team building course is initially for the staff and inmates of the Fiji Prisons and Correctional Services there is a possibility of it being used commercially. Team building courses are currently being used by the corporate sector and sporting teams, overseas. The Commandant said the setting of the team building obstacle course was part of the Commissioner of Prisons and Correctional Services Brigadier General Ioane’s strategy to align the service to the Fiji Prison’s and Correctional Act 2006. www.corrections.org.fj |
