The successful reintegration of offenders into the community is the best security for society.
OBEDIENCE IS THE KEY
Commissioner of the Fiji Prisons and Correctional Services Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua who is currently leading a Northern road tour of Vanua Levu told inmates at Labasa’s Vaturekuka Prison that obedience opens the doors out of prison.

“The only way out of prison is obedience,” the Commissioner of Prisons said.

The Commissioner of Prisons urged the inmates to change their lives for the better, other wise the Yellow Ribbon Project would be for naught.

“The much advocated yellow Ribbon Project to reintegrate ex-prisoners into society would be useless if you return to jail.

“I do not know the backgrounds you have but I would like to ask you to change for the better

The Commissioner told the inmates that there was only so much the prison wardens and he could do to bring about changes, however only God can completely change an individual.

“God has never created a bad person, but what has gone wrong is that you have gone off track from God’s purpose in life through influence, manipulation and sinful acts.
