MEDIUM ARE DRILL CHAMPIONS

There was deafening silence as the Medium Drillers took to the square.

For a few minutes, they mesmerized the spectators with their precision moves and sharp response to command.

Led by drill commander Iosefo Bele, the Medium Drillers took out the Fiji Prisons and Corrections Service Drill Competition winning comfortably despite stiff competitions from inmates from other institutions.

Participating in the competition were inmates from three institutions in Naboro – Medium, Minimum and Pre-Release, Suva Prison and Nasinu Prison.

The Deputy Commissioner of Prisons, Auta Moceisuva, who officiated at the competition, was very impressed with the efforts of the inmates commenting that drill exercises are part of the programme to instill discipline and team work.

“It shows that the inmates can perform to high level if they put their mind to it and apply themselves,” says Mr Moceisuva.

The competition is the second one among the inmates and has been introduced as part of the Yellow Ribbon Project initiatives.

In appreciation for their effort, the Medium Prison officers treated the champions to an afternoon tea.
