MALEYA HARVEST FROM FISHPOND
Another harvest of 350 kg of maleya was harvested from the fish pond at the Nasinu Prison. The harvest was shared with inmates in the Nasinu, Suva and Women’s Prisons. “We want to let our brothers and sisters have a taste of what we are producing here in Nasinu,” says Officer in Charge ASP Hari Nath. “What we have given out is enough for a meal each for us and the other two prisons.” Nasinu has two fish ponds with one having the capacity to hold 2000 small fishes and the other 3000. Harvest is carried out after four to five months and is done two times a year. The fish pond is part of the rehabilitation programmes being provided for inmates in the Nasinu Prison. |
