INMATES OUT IN NUMBERS
![]() ONE HUNDRED and fourty one inmates of Suva Prison were unlocked yesterday 23 February, 2009 for “Operation Sasamaki” to work at the four Cemeteries namely the Vatuwaqa Cemetery, Chinese Cemetery, New Extention Cemetery and the Old Suva (Lovonilase) Cemetery. Operation Sasamaki is the cleaning up of the whole Cemetery where inmates do mowing, wedding, general cleaning up of the whole cemetery boundaries and painting of Cemetery Shelters. Sixty one Prison Officers men and women from Prison Headquarters, Suva Prison, Nasinu Prison and Women’s Prison joined inmates throughout the day work. Security back up support was provided by the Emergency Control Unit and Dog Section, Police Force and the Army. This Operation is the first of its kind to happened. |
