GOLD MEDAL RECEPIENT HONOURED.
The COMPRI Brigadier General Ioane with newly appointed Prison Officer Class B (POB) Filimoni Tavatavanawai. A special morning tea was held today (Wednesday November 18) at the Fiji Prisons and Corrections Services (FPCS) headquarters to congratulate Mr. Tavatavanawai on his return from Sinai duty and for his promotion from Prison Officer Class C to Prison Officer Class B. POB Tavatavanawai who returned from Tour of Duty (TOD) to Sinai was awarded the Force Commander’s Certificate and Force Commandant Gold Medal Certificate for his achievement of not encountering any accidents after driving over 50000 km. Receiving two awards from one tour of duty makes POB Tavatavanawai the first among his fellow FPCS officers The Commissioner of FPCS Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua congratulated POB Tavatavanawai for his achievement and for making FPCS proud. “POB Tavatavanawai has successfully completed his tour of duty and has done us all proud”. “The message we can get out from this is that we cannot deny the fact that indeed there are some great and good people in our organisation and we need to recognise and honour them”. Hailing from Navunimono, Verata ,Tailevu, the soft spoken POB Tavatavanawai said that it was a good experience to have served with the military and interacting with other people of different race, culture and values. He added that the promotion came as a surprise for him and he thanked the commissioner for the opportunity. “I want to thank the Commissioner for giving me the opportunity to serve overseas and I am happy and very thankful to God Almighty. “I would also like to thank FPCS Staff for looking after and supporting my family in my absence”.
