FORMER INMATE CONDUCTS SERVICE FOR PRISONERS
In a historical moment, prisoners of Namosau Prison in Ba had one of their former inmates lead a special church service for them in a recent Family Day., held earlier this month (July 2009).
Pastor Vilikesa Bogi of the Salvation gave both prison wardens, inmates and their families a rousing rendition of the Lord’s good news which was well received by the 200 or so people gathered for the Family Day. Ninety family members and friends were on hand to share the family day with 22 inmates, which began with the church at 1100hrs and followed by hearty lunch. Also present at the family day celebration were the Ba Resident Magistrate Usaia Ratuvili, members of the Fiji Prisons Fellowship and other NGOs and stakeholders. The Family Day is part of the Commissioner of Fiji Prisons and Correctional Service Brigadier General Ioane Naivalurua, 2009 intent for capacity building and institutional strengthening. www.corrections.org.fj |
