FAMILY WELCOMES INMATE HOME
![]() Family members of released inmate Josua Nabuto, 21 were overjoyed to see him back home again. Nabuto was released from Nasinu Prison as part of the Yellow Ribbon programme. “It is to open a second door to the prisoners knowing that they are given a second chance,” said Officer-in-Charge Harry Nath. Nabuto was released to his family in Vuci Road, Nausori after being jailed for robbery. He said he was happy to be back with his family and had learned his lesson. “I have learned from my mistakes and I will now try to use my time wisely and try to complete my studies,” said Nabuto. Mr Nath said prisoners are released are not left to find their own way home as they are escorted by the police to their residence. “We make sure prisoners reach their destination and sometimes the prisoners are ashamed to return home and start to wander elsewhere,” said Mr Nath. Advising young people, Nabuto said they should use their time wisely and concentrate on school rather than involving themselves in criminal acts. Yellow Ribbon programme has changed a lot of inmates and has become a success because it helped reduce criminal acts in the local communities said Mr Nath. Source: Fiji Sun |
