FAMILY EXCITED FOR RETURN FATHER
The former Officer in Charge of the infamous Counter Revolutionary Warfare group, Captain Penaia Baleinamau officially walked out of prison last week a free man, after over 8 years of imprisonment.Having served the last year of his sentence at the Nasinu Reformatory Training Center, Mr. Baleinamau became a mentor, role model for the 100 odd young offenders at the Institution. For the last 18 months, Mr. Baleinamau was instrumental in the setting up of a Junior Staff Officers training programme co-jointly with the current Navy Commander, Francis Kean. Since then, he has been a permanent member of Fiji Corrections Academy, assisiting and teaching Staff's on a range of issues. A strict disciplinarian, Mr. Baleinamau was one of the chosen inmates to pioneer the use of qualified offenders in assisting the operation of the Service. Through his dedication and exemplary behavior, other inmates have been utilized in various aspects of the service. He was escorted, home by the Chief Officer of Nasinu Reformation Training Center, Mr. Tupeni Cakau, Nasinu CMT officer Sgt Major Watisoni Matakibau and the Head of the CMT programme, PPO Apimeleki Navuni. Tears flowed as Mr. Baleinamau was reunited with his family (wife and two children). Admist the traditional ceremonies, the relatives thanked the Fiji Prisons and Corrections Services for having looked after Mr. Baleinamau well during his time wwith us. www.corrections.org.fj |
